::Trisha Spire ★
Trisha weaves harmonies of voice, cello and keyboard with her loop pedal, holding lyrics gifted to her by animal and elemental allies. A focus to touch hearts with inspiration and love.
::Masimba Marimba ★
730-830pm & 930-1030pm
A fun-loving marimba band playing music from Zimbabwe and southern Africa.
::Chantell Foss ★ 5 Rhythms DJ
I fell into dance in 2007 like someone accidentally stepping in a pothole. Except the pothole was actually a portal to my inner world and the realm of intuition and healing. 5Rhythms teachers helped me cultivate embodiment as a powerful way to deal with being in this precious, tragic world. My own teaching in 5Rhythms follows that road. Choosing consciously to feel, explore and express what’s occurring in our bodies, breath, emotions, mental energies, and spiritual states – for ourselves – is potent medicine, and often is grounds for breakthrough. I dance and teach as a practice and prayer for awareness, for liberation, for more capacity to meet life as it is, and for everyone who dances even once to walk in growing health.
I teach weekly 5Rhythms classes in Cowichan.
::Ali Genevieve ★ Dance Temple Cowichan
Ali Genevieve has been facilitating ecstatic dance classes for over 12 years. She is a dancer, textile artist, mother, dreamer and community weaver. With music as her guiding source, her sound tapestries range from deep melodic bass to vocally infused tribal grooves that will guide & uplift the heart into a dance of alignment & remembrance. One of her greatest passions is allowing music to facilitate awakened states of consciousness & connection through dance.
::Chris Bertin ★ Moonrise Music
Instrument builder and professional percussionist, Chris Bertin has been drumming for dancers for over 20 years. Involved in many musical projects, bands, CD recordings, 5 rhythms classes and ecstatic dances, he feels most aligned sharing his music with dancers. Chris will also join Ali Genevieve for her set and play along with Masimba Marimba.
We are honoured to donate $1 of every ticket sale to the
The Unist’ot’en camp located in Northern BC, Canada.
The camp stands as a checkpoint to keep out industry that has not been given consent to come onto the territory.
There are a large number of companies that have proposed Tar Sands and Fracking Gas pipelines through Unist’ot’en territory.
Three particular companies, Chevron, TransCanada, and Enbridge, are still working without consent from Unist’ot’en.
We are raising money to help support and protect their territory. They will be facing large amounts of legal fees in order to protect the territory. Legal funds for the Unist’ot’en land defenders are absolutely crucial and a main priority at this time.
