The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door. – Clarissa Pinkola Estes

“and there it is again — beauty the brave, the exemplary, blazing open.” Mary Oliver
Yoga// Movement // Stillness: Stephanie teaches with an emphasis on breath, alignment, and mindfulness. She weaves meditation and breathwork throughout to offer a rejuvenating, clearing practice. In her classes, she invokes the principles of sthira and sukha (effort and ease) balancing strength and softness, movement and stillness. She believes in the wisdom of the body and everyone’s unique expression, always encouraging students to move from a space of curiosity, and intuition. The most important aspect is that you feel welcome and supported, whether your practice is to sweat or to rest. Her classes are all levels. She welcomes all bodies, ages, and abilities. She loves supporting those new to yoga as well a those with a seasoned practice. She offers Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Chair yoga, 50+, and Pre/Post Natal and Baby and Me Yoga. Along with yoga, Stephanie facilitates meditation, intuitive movement, and ecstatic dance.
Wildness: It is perennially within us, dormant as a hard-shelled seed, awaiting the fire or flood that awakes it again. – Gary Snyder
Reiki: The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Usui Reiki is a Japanese technique that promotes healing, stress reduction and relaxation. It is based on the theory of “Life force energy”. If one’s life force energy is low or blocked, then we are more likely to experience illness and “Dis-ease” in the body. When it is high, we experience health and vitality.
A natural, intuitive, practice, Reiki supports the body’s natural healing ability and is an effective complementary therapy that is simple and safe in treating the whole person, body, emotions, mind and spirit. For Stephanie, Reiki is both gentle and potent. It has brought her deep healing, balance, and release and taught her to embrace the softness and strength within herself. From her Earth centric practice, Stephanie loves helping people move closer to the wild seed within themselves. The path never gets easy, but these practices help find footing, perspective and guidance. Along with private Reiki Sessions, Training, and apprenticeship, Stephanie hosts the monthly Cowichan Reiki Share here at Collective space.
What to expect from your Reiki sessions: Each session is unique and will move intuitively with what you need. What you experience during a Reiki treatment varies from person to person. Reiki is a safe and gentle healing technique that incorporates a series of hand positions either directly on or just above the body(clients choice). Wear your comfortable clothes.
During a Reiki session you may feel a sense of inner peace, calmness and deep relaxation. Common physical sensations that one experiences during a Reiki session include: heat, tingling vibrations, cool gentle breeze and movement of energy throughout the body. Reiki is subtle and works whether you feel sensations or not. Generally people relax so deeply that they fall into a meditative state or even asleep. It is in this state that deep levels of healing can occur. People leave feeling rejuvenated, relaxed and clear.
After Session care: Allow for time to integrate. Eat intuitively, drink lots of water and be gentle with yourself. The energy keeps flowing after your session, so always move with kindness for yourself and your process.
*Disclaimer: Reiki is not a substitute for allopathic medicine. If you have a health concern, you should always consult a physician, Reiki does not diagnose, treat or prescribe medications.
